Sometimes there is nothing better than a serving of pasta. I have inflicted whole wheat, brown rice, buckwheat, kamut – you name it types of pasta on my family but every now and then we all crave durum wheat semolina flour pasta – AKA white pasta. The prices on this stuff ranges far and wide BUT dear readers, I've discovered the best kept lowest price organic pasta secret around…
Irresistibles Bio Organic Pasta $1.29 for 450 grams. It's available in three cuts: rotini, penne and spaghetti. At this price, its closest competition is PC Organic's Pasta at $2.49. As for flavour, I can't tell the difference between the two of them.
Irresistibles Bio is the organic private label sold by Metro and Food Basics. In my books, Metro has anything but low prices and Food Basics is one of the last places I would have thought to look for organic products but when you are on a frugal mission from God; you must have an open mind be willing to scope out prices and product selection everywhere you go ;)
For us, pasta a side dish rather than a whole-plate-affair. So, the 450 gram box is enough for four dinner and two lunch portions. At 22 cents a serving I'd say it's a steal.
