Dinner Party Penny-Pinching

In our house we love good food – especially when we are entertaining.  The challenge is how to serve a unique and memorable meal everyone will love and not bust the bank.  Well, that's the challenge for today.

As I mentioned yesterday, we have some good friends coming over for dinner tonight.  My goal is to feed my family, plus two guests an amazing 3 course organic meal with appetizers for under $100.  Wine not included ;)

Disclaimer:  I realize some readers may think spending $100 on a dinner party is either a ridiculously large amount of money or incredibly low.  We've had some of our most memorable and spontaneous meals with friends when we've just whipped together food from the pantry and made do with what we have.  I've also spent hundreds of dollars on dinner parties.  Tonight's dinner is about good times with friends but I could not resist the opportunity to apply The Organic Experiment principals to the evening's festivities.
