I've had walnuts on the brain since I splurged and purchased some organic walnuts and organic dried sour cherries at Wanigan's about a month ago. We nursed the small bag of walnuts for nearly a week and we have since decided they are a staple in the home.
While walnuts are harvested in December (who knew?), they are available year round a great source of those all-important omega-3 fatty acids. A perfect accompaniment to homemade oatmeal, partner to 1/2 a banana for a well rounded mid morning snack; organic walnuts are a great pantry must have.
A New Way With Walnuts
So, the husband and I are having good friends over for dinner this Saturday. A recipe for Osso Bucco with Gremolata caught my eye in ANNA Magazine. I was looking for something interesting to pair with the hardy meat dish. After contemplating polenta with wild mushrooms, risotto or roughly mashed potatoes, I've settled on homemade tagliatelle with a sauce recipe I found on the Canadian Living website; Walnuts, Parsley and Garlic Oil Sauce. I'll try to remember to take pictures before we dig into it!
