I've tried a bunch of hummus recipes and wound up developing my own. We're not too fond of tahini but adding in the whole sunflower seeds gives you a bit of the nutty taste without the intensity of tahini. Sunflower seeds are also much less expensive and they keep longer than their ground tahini counter part. The water replaces much of the olive oil traditionally used in hummus too.
Easy to make, low in fat, inexpensive and very tasty. There's not much more to say. We pack this in lunches with rice crackers, veggies and it's great on a sandwich instead of mayo or butter. Try it!
