Our bi-weekly delivery of organic produce from Organics Delivered arrived tonight – right on time as always. Everything looks great but I'm not sure what to do with another butternut squash. I guess I'll have to search for some recipes on-line to help get rid of the glorious gourd. This one looks easy and tasty.
Here's what came this week; 5 beets, swiss chard, arugula (which we're not too terribly fond of), leaf lettuce, 2 heads of broccoli, 5 bananas, grapes, 2lbs carrots, 2 onions, 5 apples, 4 pears, 3 field cucumbers, 7 potatoes 6 kiwi (I think kiwi's are a twice a year fruit, not twice a month. I've decided to un-like them) and some white button mushrooms.
In scouring my region for organic sources I stumbled across a company called Wanigan. They are a Brampton based organic produce supplier. They pretty much provide the same service as Organics Delivered with a few more delivery options on the types of baskets and they tell you upfront what is likely to arrive on your doorstep on delivery day. But the BEST thing is; you can visit their warehouse to pick up your own produce – and even better – they are located 5 minutes from my place of work. I feel a road-trip is in order next week.
