It tastes better. It’s better for you. It’s readily available. Sadly, it’s very expensive. Many of my friends have hopped on and off the organic band wagon numerous times – myself included. Hopping off is usually due to the ghastly prices.
Over the years I’ve read magazine articles, sections of books and blog entries on the subject of managing a tight budget while enjoying an organic diet but nobody seemed to really lay out how to do it when you live in suburbia, have a job and family. Where do you shop? What do you buy? How do you do this week in and out and not break the bank?
Well, The Organic Experiment is about learning how to sustainably feed a family of four (two adults and two teenagers) an organic diet for $200 (or there abouts) per week. Some people may think $200 a week on groceries is outlandishly high or insanely low. For now, this is the budget I’m going to work with.
That’s what this blog is about. Let’s see how it works out.
